The Cobra has a color scheme similar to a snake. The car has been painted with blue, neon pink, and gray livery. The 2016 Cobra Jet Mustang has claimed to run a quarter mile in just eight seconds. The impressive mileage of the Cobra Jet makes it one of the fastest cars by Ford on the scene.
“The modern Cobra Jet has performed for our customers and put Ford in the winner’s circle consistently since 2008,” said Dave Pericak, director, Ford Performance. “The new car is the first Cobra Jet built off the all-new 2015 Mustang – the only factory 2016 Mustang with a solid-axle rear suspension. We are excited to see it compete.”
According to Ford more than 75 percent of the 5.0-liter V8 engine components are from the Mustang GT. The Ford Cobra has a Whipple supercharger as a significant upgrade. The Ford Cobra comes with a solid axle rear suspension. The interior of the Cobra also features and impressive five-point harness, and Corbeau FIA seats.
“It was important to use production hardware wherever possible to ensure parts are readily available and reasonably priced for racers,” said Jesse Kershaw, Ford Performance manager for drag racing parts and competition. “The production parts are also incredibly durable in passing our rigorous dyno and drag strip testing.”
The Cobra Jet is also equipped with an electric water pump from the C-Max hybrid. The pump allows the engine to cool without running. According to Ford only 50 of the Cobra Jet will be sold, as it is always in the case of Cobra Jets.
The Cobra Jet for 2016 will come with a price tag of $99,990. A further additional charge of $1,995 will be applicable for the graphics and the wheelie bar.
