The new droid featured in the trailer for the Episode 7 of Star Wars is very integral to the plot of the film.

The droid BB-8 first made its appearance in the trailer of the upcoming Star Wars film. Since then many speculations and teasers about Star Wars: The Force Awakens has come to light. One of the most prominent revelations is that BB-8 is a female.

Furthermore the female droid is very pivotal to the plot of the upcoming film, according to The Mirror. The Star Wars droid has already become a fan favorite.

The BB-8 is sort of the new version of the ‘R2-D2’. The droid BB-8 is an innovative sphere-shaped robot. The robot has a pretty look when seen in the trailer for JJ Abrams' Episode VII. But it seems the droid will be more important in the story than just a side-kick.

Reports suggest previously there had been no strong female robots in the Star Wars films. JJ Abrams was determined to add a robot with strong female presence in the film. The result is the BB-8 droid a cute yet strong female version of R2-D2.

The droid BB-8 is mostly seen right by the side of the main female lead Rey in the trailer. Rey played by Daisy Ridley is the main character in the upcoming film. It is yet to see how BB-8 will factor in the film equation. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to be released on the 17th of December 2015 in the UK.
