Raccoons share the mask with the Beagle Boys, but are much smarter.

This story about a raccoon is incredible. A Zoo in Heidelberg tells a unusual story of a raccoon who broke out one night. The search for the escaped raccoon was not successful. The raccoon was gone for days, but then he was suddenly back in the compound. To the surprise of the Zookeepers, he brought with him another raccoon from the wild.

This is like straight out of a Disney movie: A raccoon escapes from the zoo. He wanders around and feels lost. Then he meets a wild raccoon. The wild raccoon shows him the ropes of living in the wild and they become friends. After he learns how hard it is to survive in the wild he decides to go back to the zoo, where he gets fed everyday. He tells his new friend how great it is in the zoo and convinces him to come with him. Aww!

This fun raccoon story happened already over a year ago. The Zoo Heidelberg just got around now to tell the story in recent press release. The story just got picked up by German Bild.

The escaped raccoon and his wild friend did stay in the Zoo and never broke out again.

Raccoons have lived in Germany since the 1920s. Germans imported them from North America because they liked the fur. Escaped and freed raccoons quickly adapted and can be found in some areas in Germany.

The Zoo in Heidelberg keeps raccoons since the 90s.
