  • Honda recalls 25,000 units of Fit LX-trim in the US alone!

The recall was issued due to problems in the rear grab handle and airbags of the 2015-2016 Fit LX-trim vehicles.

Honda just issued yet another recall. This time the recall was directed at the 2015-2016 Fit LX-trim vehicles. This is also the third time the Fit vehicles have had to be recalled. However this time the issue with the car is very specific.

The issue arises in the limited cross-section of production. As a result of the recall more than 25,000 units of the Fit will be recalled in the US alone.

The recall was announced due to an issue in the bracket affixing the rear grab handle. The bracket was manufactured incorrectly and has given rise to problems in the Fit cars. The bracket has the potential to puncture the side curtain airbag.

The puncturing could occur when the airbags deploy. The rupturing could result in serious injuries of the passengers. The issue with airbags has the potential to be a very bad news for Honda.

According to Honda the issue was discovered during the internal testing procedures. There have been no reported incidents due to the issue. The problem is present in certain 2015 and 2016 Fit models. Especially the models manufactured between April 11, 2014, and July 2, 2015. The recall is limited to the LX trim level.

More than 84,000 units of the 2015-2016 Fit LX-trim vehicles were sold in the US. The recall affects only an estimated 25,367 units in the US. Previously the Fit vehicles were recalled over a transmission issue last month. In September Fit cars were recalled due to faulty ignition coils.
