The new $99 Samsung Gear VR virtual reality headset is on sale starting today.
Best Buy is taking pre-orders for the new Gear VR. As reported on the weekend, Best Buy is offering virtual reality fans to pre-order the $99.99 Samsung Gear VR. The Gear VR will be released on Friday, November 20.

The new $99 Samsung Gear VR 2015 headset powered by Oculus is possibly the biggest advantage that Samsung Galaxy S6 owners will have over Apple iPhone users. The new and improved Gear VR was announced at the Oculus Connect conference in September. Samsung has said to release the new $99 Gear VR in Fall.
Given the hype around the new Gear VR, pre-ordering the VR glasses on Tuesday is advisable. It is unclear at this point how many units Samsung will offering this Holiday season.
The Gear VR 2015 supports the Galaxy Note5, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy S6 edge, and Galaxy S6. Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.
Last week Samsung released an Android update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge+ that enables support for the Gear VR. This update is required to make the Gear VR work.
The Gear VR comes bundled with a 16GB microSD card pre-loaded with 3D movie trailers and 360 degree immersive videos.
The new Samsung Gear VR is 22% lighter than previous Gear VR Innovator Edition, and includes new foam cushioning to make the device more comfortable to wear. In addition, the Gear VR's touchpad has been improved, providing greater control while enjoying the robust selection of film, gaming, 360 degree video and experiential content available for Gear VR.
The 310g light Gear VR device has Accelerator, Gyrometer, Proximity (Mount/Unmount Detection) sensors. The field of view is 96 degrees. Compatible smartphones include Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, S6 and S6 edge. The new Samsung Gear VR works with virtual reality content developed from Oculus and of course also supports the Youtube virtual reality videos.
The Gear VR plays an crucial role in bringing virtual reality to the masses. Samsung needs though to start think like Microsoft and open up. Supporting the iPhone with the Gear VR would give the Gear VR a much bigger chance in driving adoption.
