There will be a global update for Xbox One globally on Thursday, November 12, starting from around 3:01 am ET/12:01 am PT, and there are few things users of the gaming device must know to take advantage of the global roll-out experience without any hassles.

Not all users globally will experience the update at the same time. But more on this soon…

If your Xbox One system is set to instant-on power mode via the Power and Startup menu in the Settings section, your update will occur in the background if your console is put in the Connected Standby mode. Yet not everyone will get the update at once all over the world – it will continue to update at various times of the day and night based on individual time zones.

If you have set your Xbox One console to Energy-saving mode via your Settings, your system will detect the update but will not download or install it automatically. You will need to go to Settings-System to manually confirm if your own update has arrived, and you can then click on the “Update Now” notification to initiate the download and update process of your console.

However, whether your system updates automatically or you do it manually, all Xbox One consoles globally will be prompted by November 23 to mandatorily update their device to the New Xbox One Experience.

After you have successfully updated your device, you can gain better access to your Xbox 360 games on Xbox One by refreshing your Game Collection so as to view pre-purchased and digital titles from the Backward Compatible title list in your install queue. Inserting a disc for a Xbox 360 title that is supported will also download the game which can then be played on Xbox One.
