According to a new article from People magazine, Charlie Sheen is going to soon announce that he is HIV-positive. According to the article, a top Hollywood publicist and crisis manager named Howard Bragman was approached by Sheen six months ago to help him deal with his status, but he never actually had direct contact with him.

Bragman does have some words of wisdom for the actor who is said to be getting treatment: "The interview could open up a lot of sympathy for him, but he has to be concerned about a fear of litigation from former sexual partners. You don't take that lightly."
The same source says that a lot of people in Sheen's life did know about the diagnosis: "It's been going on for quite a while. He's not necessarily comfortable talking about it. It was very hard to get up the courage for him to talk about it." Sheen has been a known drug abuser and frequently has prostitutes at his parties. His entire life has been fodder for the tabloids since his departure from Two and a Half Men and his unpredictable habits. The mother of his two daughters, Denise Richards, and the mother of his twin boys from Brooke Mueller, are said to be concerned with Charlie's behavior and condition.
"I've known about this a long time, it's not a surprise to me," says Bragman of the news that was first reported by the National Enquirer. "I feel very sorry for his pain. And I hope it's used as a teachable moment for the world. This is a disease that can affect anyone."
