  • Health Benefits of Coffee make it the Ideal Beverage

It seems that the myriad benefits of coffee make it the ideal beverage. Those who drink java on a regular basis are protected from several diseases.

Coffee is pretty good for health. The more research is carried out on the drink, which is derived from beans that were first grown in Ethiopia, the more we find it to be a wonder drug and elixir of life.

Those who consume a few cups of joe each day are less likely to kick the bucket from cardiac arrest or diabetes. Even chances of suicide are reduced thanks to the catecholamines that are released in the brain upon drinking coffee.

But everyone ought to be careful. Too much of a thing is obviously bad. More than five cups a day will lead to jittery nerves and chronic insomnia. Even the decaffeinated version has its benefits.

Researchers at Harvard have found in a study that coffee is indeed a very salubrious beverage that has a ton of good effects on the body and mind. However, if you are a chain smoker, the drinking of coffee will not offset the deleterious effects of nicotine.

From three to four cups of coffee a day is the norm. And mortality from diabetes and heart attacks not to mention self-killing (suicide) will be minimized thanks to this amazing drink. As of now the conclusive evidence needs some corroboration.

That is because the full caffeine version of the drink and the decaf version show similar effects. Over 200,000 physicians and nurses were studied by the research team. The lifestyle and eating behavioral repertoire of these medical staff members were noted down for a period of two decades.

Those who drank the bitter brew were less likely to die due to a number of causes than those who never touched a cup of coffee. The percentage gap between the consumers and the non-consumers of coffee was 8% to 15%.

But this relation did not hold when the consumers also ate red meat like a vicious carnivore, drank others under the table and smoked cigarettes like a chimney. Then there were differences between those who drank plain black coffee or creamy coffee with sugar.

It appears that coffee is the #1 source of antioxidants in the diet of most Americans. These wonderful chemicals fight damage to DNA in the body. Coffee also prolongs the lives of its drinkers. And it also reduces inflammation which makes it a very cool beverage.
