Budweiser Super Bowl 50 Ad will not have a Puppy

Puppies don't sell beer. Budweiser should have known that before.

The Budweiser Super Bowl ads with a Puppy have been extremely popular Super Bowl ads the last two years. The Budweiser Puppy Love Ad of 2014 and the Budweiser Lost Puppy Ad of 2015 have been highly emotional ads that have been viewed millions of times online.

In an interview with Bloomberg, Jorn Socquet, AB InBev’s vice president of marketing for the U.S. revealed that there will be no puppy in the Budweiser Super Bowl 50 Ad.

"We’ve done the puppy commercials on the Super Bowl for the last three years and everybody loves them,” he said. “They have zero impact on beer sales. Those ads I wouldn’t air again because they don’t sell beer.”

AdAge reports that the Budweiser Clydesdales will be in a Budweiser Super Bowl 50 ad. Anheuser-Busch InBev is going to run more product focused ads. As long the ads are entertaining, it does not matter. The Budweiser puppy ads were great little stories that entertained the Super Bowl audience. It did apparently not make them buy more Budweiser after the Super Bowl.

When Budweiser decided a couple years ago to not feature the iconic Clydesdale horses, there was a huge public outcry. Budweiser reverted their decision and ran a Clydesdales commercial during the Super Bowl 2010. The Clydesdales are more popular then ever since.

Are fans going to pressure Budweiser to bring back the puppy for Super Bowl 50? Maybe it is finally time for cats to take over the Budweiser ads. Cats have a new viral video hit on Youtube: Cats terrified of cucumbers.

We will again report about the Super Bowl 2016 ads as in past years. See the Super Bowl 50 Ads first here on I4U News.
