J.J. Abrams revealed he collaborated with the write and composer of Broadway musical Hamilton for a score.
Director J.J. Abrams just revealed some new gossip about the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Abrams revealed he collaborated with Lin-Manual Miranda for the upcoming film. Miranda is the writer, composer and star of the buzzy Broadway musical Hamilton.

Miranda helped Abrams compose a score for a cantina scene in the film. Abrams shared he went to see the show Hamilton. At the show Miranda came up to him and told him if he needed music for the cantina he can contact him.
Abrams then shared how John Williams refused to write music for the scene. Therefore Abrams contacted Miranda for the cantina scene. Once Miranda received the email he agreed to drop everything for the scene. Then Abrams and Miranda sent music files back and forth. The final result written by both Abrams and Miranda is in the film.
Miranda also confirmed the news through twitter. According to Miranda he worked with Abrams for 2 whole months between 6pm & 7:30 for 2 show days. Miranda then called Abrams the best and exclaimed he can’t wait to see the film.

Rumors of a new cantina score have been circulating since Comic Con. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in the US on the 18th of December 2015.
