Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show Performer Is ColdPlay

The Wall Street Journal just issued a report that says that Coldplay is performing the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.

The word is out. The Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show will be performed by Coldplay. This is what the Wall Street Journal has just reported. 

Update 01/08: Beyonce will join Coldplay in the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show.

The WSJ writes: "British rock band Coldplay will headline the halftime show at the National Football League’s Super Bowl 50 in February, according to people familiar with the matter."

Coldplay is one of performers that had been rumored ahead of the official announcement by the NFL and Pepsi tonight. 

The Super Bowl Halftime 50 Show will be the most watched music show of the 2016. The artist performing the Pepsi sponsored break between the Big Game is going to get a huge push in popularity and album sales. 

The NFL and Pepsi planned to announce the Super Bowl 50 Halftime act tonight. The Halftime Show performer reveal will be made live on Television during the NFL game Green Bay Packers versus Detroit Lions. 

The game kicks off at 8:25pm ET on CBS and NFL network. When exactly the Halftime Show announcement will be made has not been revealed. Obviously Halftime is a fitting slot to make the big reveal.

Coldplay has world-wide appeal and is an awesome live band. Chris Martin is a charismatic front man and can deliver an intense show. The new ColdPlay album "A Head Full of Dreams" will be released tomorrow. This is great timing to announce the Super Bowl gig today. The American ColdPlay tour is then likely kicking off soon after the Super Bowl 50.

The Super Bowl Halftime Show 2015 was performed by Katy Perry. Bruno Mars and Red Hot Chili Peppers rocked the stage in 2014. In 2013 it was Beyonce's and Destiny's Child that kept viewers glued to the screen. 

Super Bowl 2012 had a whole list of performers headed by Madonna. Other acts included LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, Cee Lo Green Andy Lewis and Cirque du Soleil.

Super Bowl 50 is Pepsi's 4th year as the title sponsor of the Super Bowl Halftime Show. It is the 14th year as an NFL partner. Pepsis said that the again provide fans with a halftime show worthy of pop-culture's biggest stage. This year, Pepsi brings fans closer than ever to the show with an exclusive behind the scenes look at what it takes to pull off the biggest music event of the year through its digital mini-series, "Pepsi presents: The Super Bowl Halftime Show Show."

Super Bowl 50 will take place on February 7, 2016, in Santa Clara, at the Levi's Stadium. The stadium is the home of the home of the San Francisco 49ers. Super Bowl 50 will be topping all previous Super Bowl's because of the anniversary. Marketers are flocking to Super Bowl 50 and it will be a huge TV event.
