  • Ford releases Apple Siri Eyes Free update for its cars!

iPhone and Ford car owners with the Sync Infotainment system can now use Siri for a variety of tasks.

Ford released the Siri Eyes Free update on Thursday. The update was announced by Ford Motors for use in their vehicles. The Siri Eyes Free update can allow Ford drivers to carry out tasks while driving through Siri.

Consumers need to have an iPhone and a Ford car equipped with the Sync infotainment system. The owners can tap into Siri to perform a variety of tasks while keeping their eyes on the road.

According to Ford the software is available in more than 5 million Sync-equipped Ford vehicles. Even Ford models from 2011 can receive the Siri Eyes Free update.

Through Siri and Ford Sync software, drivers can perform multiple tasks while looking at the road. Drivers can make calls, play music, receive driving directions and review calendar appointments. All the tasks can be performed through voice commands now.

The Siri Eyes-Free is the third version of the Sync since 2007. It incorporates the voice-activated Siri digital assistant. The current version also combines with the second version of Sync which was called MyFord Touch.

MyFord Touch was introduced with Ford's 2011 lineup. According to Ford the Sync system is installed in more than 12 million vehicles. Sherif Marakby is the director of Ford Electronics and Electrical Systems Engineering. Marakby stated the Sync by Ford was designed be a flexible and updatable entertainment system.

“SYNC, Ford’s entertainment and communications system, was designed to be flexible and updatable, just like other mobile technologies, so our customers are able to get the most out of their smartphones while behind the wheel,” said Sherif Marakby, director, Ford Electronics and Electrical Systems Engineering.

“Siri Eyes-Free is another great voice-activated feature that not only adds convenience but helps our customers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.”

The new software update is available for vehicles equipped with the second generation of SYNC, known as MyFord Touch in North America, ranging from model years 2011 to 2016.
