A new source claims Sony will not be releasing anymore Xperia smartphones in 2016. Sony will reportedly focus on two new major devices to be released in 2016.
While the other smart product by Sony will be released in September and hit the shelves by October 2016. The timing of the second device also suggests it may even be released at the IFA 2016 event.
The plan makes sense since the Xperia Z5 series has been on the shelves for about two months now. The news also means Sony will not be launching any flagship device at the Consumer Electronic Show 2016.
The source claims both of the smart devices will be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. The devices will also feature a metal back cover by Sony for the first time.
One thing the Sony devices will not have is the 4K displays. The 4K display was previously seen in the Xperia Z5. Since Sony featured a flurry of Xperia Z3 variations in 2015 it seem promising for a new product.
Sony always had a tradition of unveiling two new products every year. The tradition may be revived in 2016 after the Xperia frenzy.
