ChefCharger's Circle Bamboo Coaster Charger for Mobile Phones comes to Kickstarter

The bamboo coaster that charges mobile phones is already a common sight in restaurants in Manhattan. Now the company lets you take one home.

A Boston based startup with an MIT background has created a beverage coaster that can charge your mobile phone while you sip your beer. The coasters are already in use at several restaurants in New York according to ChefCharger co-founder and CEO Lana Ibragimova.

"We received an overwhelmingly positive feedback. The only request we’ve heard was 'I wish I had it at home,' said Ibragimova. "So, now, we are launching a new product, Circle – a stylish charging bamboo coaster for personal use."

ChefCharger's Circle includes a wooden charging station, three coasters, and an AC power adapter. A user can place the coasters on a desk, kitchen countertop, or on a bedside table, as well as take it to a coffee shop or bar.

The Circle contains a 3,000mAh battery. It is food safe, eco-friendly, and can be used for both cold and hot beverages. It also contains metal walls and other special design elements to guarantee electrical and liquid safety.

The coaster is compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows Phones, and comes equipped with a lightning or a microUSB connector. Its universal charging dock is suitable for all power outlets.

Early backers on Kickstarter will have an opportunity to pre-order the set starting at $60 or even obtain a limited edition Circle coasters decorated by artist Jon Burgerman exclusively for this project.
