Aerodrome: World’s First Droneport Building In Nevada
  • World’s first drone airport is under construction near Las Vegas!

Boulder City 30 miles from Las Vegas is aiming to be the first ever Aerodrome.

A drone airport is about to become a reality. An Aerodrome, the term used for the home of drones, is being built in Boulder City. Boulder City lies at a distance of 30 miles from Las Vegas.

Boulder City is already famous for a giant solar thermal energy power plant. The power plant produces enough power to take 20,000 cars off the roads a year.

Boulder City is also known as the home of Nevada Solar One. Boulder City now wants to be the home to the world’s first drone port. The facility will be aimed primarily at education for commercial users of unmanned aerial systems. The facility could also be used for recreational purposes.

Some documents regarding the project have been obtained recently by FastCompany. According to the documents the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) industry will see massive growth. Between 2015 and 2025 the UAS industry is expected to earn an unprecedented $82.1 billion.

The industry will also be able to generate at least 103,000 new, high-paying jobs. However the industry will not prosper if trained personnel are not available. The Boulder City Aerodrome will aim to train individuals in drone technology. The officials at Boulder City Aerodrome project are prepared to help meet the increasing demand.

The Aerodrome facility in Boulder City is already operational and the full facility is under construction. The construction is expected to be completed by 2018. It will be one of six Federal Aviation Administration-approved drone test sites.
