Breaking. The Independent Ethics Committee bans Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini.
FIFA found finally a way to get rid of Sepp Blatter. The Independent Ethics Committee bans Sepp Blatter, President of FIFA, for eight years and Michel Platini, Vice-President and member of the Executive Committee of FIFA and President of UEFA, for also eight years from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) on a national and international level. The bans come into force immediately.

The committee states: "The proceedings against Mr Blatter primarily related to a payment of CHF 2,000,000 transferred in February 2011 from FIFA to Mr Platini. Mr Blatter, in his position as President of FIFA, authorized the payment to Mr Platini which had no legal basis in the written agreement signed between both officials on 25 August 1999. Neither in his written statement nor in his personal hearing was Mr Blatter able to demonstrate another legal basis for this payment. His assertion of an oral agreement was determined as not convincing and was rejected by the chamber."
79-year-old Blatter i sent into retirement with this ban. He would be 87 years when he could get back into FIFA, which will not happen.
Michel Platini, was once a beloved soccer player, who got now sucked into the unethical depths of FIFA. Platini was supposed to become FIFA President at one point, replacing Blatter. Now the 60-year-old French is also banned well into retirement. He will be 68 when he can get back into managing anything soccer related.
Looking at Blatter's age though, Platini still would be young enough to become FIFA President in 2024. I would not be surprised.
