Colgate tooth paste brand will run its first Super Bowl commercial at the Super Bowl 50.
The Colgate Super Bowl 50 commercial will be different. The tooth paste brand's first Super Bowl ad will be a basically a public service announcement. It is aimed at reminded people to conserve water.
Update 01/27: The Colgate Super Bowl 50 Ad has been released online.
Colgate is committed to saving water. The brand has already brought that message to Latin America last year in a 1-minute commercial. By making small changes and by just turning the faucet off while brushing your teeth you can save 3,000 gallons of water a year, says the Colgate commercial.
“It’s an unusual type of messaging, it’s not really about a product or new news on a product,” said Scott Campbell,General Manager for Integrated Marketing Communications, North America at Colgate-Palmolive to the WSJ. “It’s a message about our consumers and the use of our product that we think is interesting and different.”
The Colgate Super Bowl 50 Ad will be a condensed version of the Colgate commercial that you can watch below. This is an important ad, but it is not quite entertaining, as you would expect from Super Bowl commercials. It is a gamble for the brand to go with this to the the Super Bowl. They could quickly get ignored, because of all the other loud, emotional and funny ads.
“We absolutely bought the [Super Bowl] ad for this piece of information,” Mr. Campbell said. “It’s an important venue for which we could communicate this in the biggest way possible.”
It is a very important message. Let's hope it will be heard by the over 100 million Super Bowl fans.
