  • CES 2016: Beacon Scavenger Hunt to take place again!

The Scavenger Hunt allows attendees to explore the world’s latest and most innovative technology.

The Beacon Scavenger Hunt has returned to the CES 2016. The hunt allows attendees to see new and emerging technologies across the CES floor. All attendees can participate in a beacon-based Scavenger Hunt.

It allows them to explore the world’s greatest technology event and compete for special prizes. Attendees with the official CES App on iOS or Android devices can take part.

The attendees will earn Scavenger Hunt ‘badges’ by exploring the key areas. All of the locations will be powered proximity beacons and services to trigger participant apps.

The activation will occur when they are near a Hunt location. More details on the nature of the Scavenger Hunt are provided on the CES app.

First three players to collect all of the badges will be rewarded with digital cameras. The cameras will be provided by Activeon and Panasonic. The prizes will be delivered after CES 2016 through proper verification.

Limited number of prizes will also be available on site for those who compete throughout the week. Winners wishing to claim their prize will report to the Press Room at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). During normal hours the winners need to reach Room S229.

“The Scavenger Hunt is back,” said Jeff Joseph, senior vice president of communications and strategic relationships at CTA.

“Beacon technology has taken off since we first used it at the 2014 CES. Using proximity beacons to drive a Scavenger Hunt is in line with our show mission – to promote innovation and showcase the latest in emerging technologies. Plus, it’s just a fun way to encourage participants to visit important exhibits across the show floor.”

The Beacon Scavenger Hunt started back in CES 2014. The hunt provides a fun way to encourage participants to visit important exhibits. The low-energy transmitters, Beacons, notify mobile devices when they come in range. CTA is partnering with Radius Networks, Inc. to implement the Scavenger Hunt.

“Throughout our partnership with CTA, we have been able to demonstrate the latest in proximity beacon technology at CES,” said Marc Wallace, CEO & cofounder of Radius Networks.

“This year, we are demonstrating enhanced indoor navigation, the Scavenger Hunt and proximity-based ‘right-time, right-place’ messaging around the show.”

Top prizes of this hunt at CES 2016 include an Activeon CX Gold action cam and Panasonic’s LUMIX G7 4K Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera.
