Netflix To Block VPN And Proxy Servers

Netflix has just announced that it will not allow the users to use proxy or any such method to watch Netflix videos from any other country, from now on.

It implies that the UK users won’t be able to access VPN content available to US Netflix customers.

Many Netflix geeks would be sad and disappointed after hearing this news. Netflix VP of content delivery architecture David Fullagar broke this news today.

He said that the reason to take this step is to stop people is that not all the content is available, globally.

Thus people use different VPNs and blocking tools to watch such content.

As per the report by GlobalWebIndex published in January 2015, about 30 million users were using different methods to access Netflix from areas where the service is not available.

Netflix is trying hard to improve the content availability in various nations around the world.

But, still the streaming service has a long and tiring journey to cover, before the content becomes available to everyone.

The management has yet not revealed on how it is going to ensure that the proxies aren’t being used to access the content in restricted regions.

But the company is quite confident about its decision and its implications. Netflix is currently accessible in 190 different nations globally.

The ability to lock the content from one region to other regions of the world will be a hard step to take.

However, Netflix’s user code already forbids the viewers to use proxies or any other tool breaker to watch content.

But still the users don’t comply with the rules. The new move by Netflix will not be appreciated by the users.

However, the initiative by Netflix is applauded by its content partners.
