Apple Watch 2 Not Coming In Spring Claims Report

A new report contradicts earlier reports about the Apple Watch 2 Spring release.

Apple introduced the Apple Watch in April of 2015. Last week we carried a report out of Asia that claimed that Quanta is ramping up production for the Apple Watch 2 this month for a Spring release.

Now TechCrunch's Matthew Panzarino says in a report that his sources say otherwise. The Apple Watch 2 will not launch that early. Panzarino pulls together several aspects supporting his claim.

First there is no supply chain movement according to analyst Ben Bajarin. Second there is no major action on the software development side underway.

I believe that Apple will change to a fall release schedule for the Apple Watch. It is the ideal Holiday gadget gift. By launching it in Spring, the product is getting less attractive as a gift as it is not new anymore.

It mades sense to launch the original Apple Watch in Spring to get it out there and get developers behind it. Now Apple owns at least 50% of the smartwatch market and needs to deliver an Apple Watch 2 that is an exciting upgrade, like they do for the iPhone. It also is supposed to have a thinner design.

The new Apple Watch 2 is rumored to feature a video camera and new health sensors to track sleep and other bio indicators.
