The technology is most likely the future of the global automotive industry. This was the first ever visit by the President to the NAIAS. President Obama toured the show with 2016 NAIAS Chairman Paul Sabatini along with the UAW President Dennis Williams. The entourage made stops at several exhibits, including Chevrolet, FCA, Ford and ZF.
President Obama also met up with the Chairman, NAIAS Co-Chair Sam Slaughter and Executive Director Rod Alberts. The meeting took place prior to the tout of the NAIAS 2016 exhibits.
According to Sabatini, NAIAS is honored to have President Obama visit our great city and our international show. The presence of the President underscores the importance of NAIAS.
The appearance also highlights the vehicles and technologies on display. All the exhibits made their world debut last week at Press Preview of NAIAS 2016.
According to Alberts, the NAIAS impacts the automotive community majorly. The announcements at NAIAS are also relevant to the US and world economy.
NAIAS officials were privileged to have the President visit. NAIAS will continue to draw the attention of government leaders and officials across the globe.
On the show floor President Obama reviewed a sampling of autonomous vehicles. The President also viewed advanced powertrain technologies on display as he toured the show floor. A number of new production and concept vehicles unveiled at NAIAS also caught President Obama’s eye.
