Many stars which included Demi Lovato and John Legend paid a moving tribute to Lionel Richie at the Grammys 2016. He was in tears at the celebration of his past songs in the form of a medley.
At the Grammys 2016, Demi Lovato sang out the golden notes to Lionel Richie’s “Hello”. Many would have expected a singer of Adele’s status to have sung that particular song, but it was to fall into the lap of Demi Lovato.

Demi did a wonderful job of rendering the soulful song though. She along with five other artists took to the stage to honor and celebrate Lionel Richie, the King of the 80s.
It was basically a medley of the greatest hits of Lionel that they all sang in unison. John Legend started the deal with a rendition of “Easy Like a Sunday Morning” on the grand piano. Then it came Lovato’s turn to say “Hello” to Richie in her own unique way.
It was absolutely mind boggling. Richie had wisecracked earlier on the red carpet that he would have loved to have met the wonderful singer Adele. She had also sung his song “Hello” once upon a time.
Richie looked on in awe and a mind lost in memories as the three, Lovato, Legend and Luke Bryan took on the song “Penny Lover”. As for Meghan Trainor, who was a new artist, she did a version of “You are the Sun, You are the Rain”.
Tyrese closed the medley with “Brick House” only to have Richie join the onstage musicians and singers. Richie sang his hit “All Night Long” to thunderous applause from the onlookers. It was a night to remember. Lionel spoke of how “that was the way to do it right” as a final note.
Richie is a winner of five Grammys. He is especially famous for his song “We are the World” which was 1986’s Song of the Year. Lionel is a very versatile singer who has many soulful and funky songs under his belt.
His hit single “Hello” was the most beautiful song of 1983. It happened to be a love ballad about a teacher secretly infatuated with his blind female student.
As Demi Lovato hit the high notes in a white blazer, bling necklace and black pants, Richie was observed to shed a tear or two. He moved his head to the music too. Richie must have remembered his prime and the people he shared it with at such a procession of memories.
