Apple Reportedly Adds Wistron as iPhone 5se Supplier

A new report from the Asian supply chain says that the new 4-inch iPhone 5se won't only be made by Foxconn.

Apple is rumored to unveil a new 4-inch iPhone 5se at an event mid-March. The iPhone 5se is said to look like an iPhone 5S and sport the latest A9 and M9 chips along with NFC and Always On Siri support.

The new entry-level iPhone is reportedly shipping in the same week as it is unveiled. Digitimes reports that Apple has signed Wistron has second manufacturer for the iPhone 5se besides Foxconn.

Why Apple would need a second manufacturer for the iPhone 5se is unclear. We do not expect crazy demand for the small iPhone. There is more talk about the demand for a small iPhone than there are consumers actually wanting one.

The trend goes clearly towards larger screen iPhones, because of the better user experience on the web and in apps. The iPhone 5se is a nice addition to the line-up, but not crucial. Casual mobile users will find the little iPhone attractive, but there is still the question of price. The specs suggest that the iPhone 5se will not be a bargain.
