One surprising name that came on top of the list was Idris Elba. Elba has been featuring in Luther for the past few years and people are just taken in by his style and charisma.
The 007 team has already deviated in terms of look by casting Daniel Craig so it wouldn’t be a shocker if Elba was featured in the spy franchise.
However, Elba is not letting anyone label him down with a specific character. If people want him to play a spy, it doesn’t get better than his new role in the movie Bastille Day.
The trailer for the movie was released recently in which Elba plays a CIA agent Sean Briar who is going undercover to catch a criminal that was responsible for a bombing.
Briar catches him and finds out that he is just a pick pocket named Michael Mason. Mason tells Briar that the bombing was just bad luck and bad timing on his part but there is another plot in motion and a bomb will go off on Bastille Day.
Briar suspects that there is an insider or an ex-officer who has planted the bomb. So he is embarking on a mission which is unauthorized by the agency and he tags along his pick pocket who asks him if he had anger management issues.
The pairing is fun with Game of Thrones' Richard Madden as Mason and other cast members featuring, Charlotte Le Bon (The Walk) and Kelly Rielly (Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows). The film has been directed by Jason Watkins (Woman in Black).
