There have been some rumors out there lately that Tiger Woods would be making his return to the greens. Then there were reports that it was unlikely he would ever return to the greens. It looks like those social media posts have been lying.

An anonymous Twitter account and a longtime sports writer both spoke out and said that Tiger wasn't even able to sit for a long period of time because of the surgery done to his back. The writer, Robert Lusetich, went as far as to do publicity talks about the condition.

However, the sources of those comments in particular haven't been able to be identified.

"The tweets that appeared this weekend about Tiger's health are ridiculous and absolutely false,'' Steinberg said in a statement to ESPN. "It's reprehensible that every few months someone makes something up and it's treated like a real story. Tiger continues to work on his rehabilitation and we will have an accurate update at the appropriate time.''

Woods hasn't played since August at the Wyndham Championship, where he came in tenth. Since that time, he has had to have two surgeries on his lower back. He's been in recovery since the latest one on October 28, 2015.

No one is quite sure what these surgeries entailed, though we do know that they were each called a microdiscectomy. there were no further reports on the recovery or the surgeries.

"There is no timetable for this and that's been the hardest mindset adjustment, is that I don't know,'' Woods said on Dec. 1. "So where is the light at the end of the tunnel. I don't know, so that's been hard.''

Woods, 40, has won 79 PGA tour titles, but suffered setbacks both on the green and off.

He has played just 15 tournaments since his back problems appeared in early 2014.
