Vanessa Hudgens has been having some high and low moments lately, but this one definitely settles into the higher section - she just signed a deal to star in a new show!

The Grease and High School Musical alum has signed to star in NBC's new DC Comics pilot Powerless, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show will be a combination of a single-camera workplace comedy and the DC Comics universe. The show will highlight what it is like for a normal person who works in a world of superheroes and villains.

Hudgens is set to play Emily Locke, an insurance claims adjuster who just wants to help people, but doesn't want to stand out. However, that'll soon change thanks to the superheroes that fly around the city.

Powerless is coming from Ben Queen and Michael Patrick Jann. Christina Kirk will co-star.

If Powerless is picked up, it will be the first small screen role for Hudgens. It will also be the first time DC Comics will go for a half-hour entry. NBC likely picked up a pilot because it is the only show without a superhero series, and they have become quite popular.

DC is behind CBS' Supergirl, Fox's Gotham and The CW's The Flash, Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. ABC is home to corporate sibling Marvel's Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, and has a spinoff of the former, Marvel's Most Wanted, in the works this pilot season.
