New Renault Scenic Previewed Before Geneva Motor Show Debut
  • New Renault Scenic previews released before Geneva Motor Show debut!

The official images reveal that the shape of the upcoming Scenic resembles an SUV more than its predecessor.

The all-new Renault Scenic has a planned debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Renault just released preview images of the Scenic before its official debut. The images show the proportions of the new Scenic.

The official images show the Scenic has larger-diameter wheels. The wheels draw inspiration from the R-Space concept car.

This will be the fourth-generation Scenic and has a more SUV-like shape than the previous pure MPV Scenics. The nudge towards an SUV shape is the growing popularity of SUVs and crossovers in Europe.

The R-Space concept featured rear-hinged rear doors. The door revealed a large single opening without a B-pillar. But the 2016 Scenic production version has a more conventional layout.

The front and rear tracks are wider and include 20in wheels and a low roof line. The production version gives the car larger proportions and more ground clearance.

According to Renault the guiding principle behind the 4th generation Scenic was to provide a completely fresh take. The compact MPV was to be completely refreshed by Renault.

Laurens van den Acker is the Head of Renault designs. According to Acker they wanted the new Scenic to break new ground. So the new Scenic is a sexier and more modern take on the MPV. The 2016 Scenic does carry the outstanding modularity part of the model’s three previous generations.

Renault said in a statement to AutoCar: "The guiding principle behind the fourth-generation Scenic was to provide a completely fresh take on the compact MPV."
