A new report puts the date of the Apple March event a day ahead of the crucial FBI hearing.

Apple has settled on the date for its March Media Event that is bringing the new 4-inch iPhone SE and the new 9.7-inch iPad Pro. According to well connected John Paczkowski of Buzzfeed, Apple as set March 21 for its first media event in 2016.

Update: Apple sent out invitiation for a March 21 Media event on March 10.

Initially it was rumored that Apple plans the event for March 15, but then a rumor surfaced that it is going to be March 22. Apple had to deal with something unplanned that is likely causing a lot of disruption inside Apple. The very public clash with authorities over the court order to give the FBI access to the San Bernardino shooter.

If Buzzfeed's sources are correct than Apple will unveil new products the day ahead of the first appearance in court where Apple and the FBI brief the court about their stand points. Apple is not willing to follow the court order and give the authorities access to an iPhone. If they do, it would set a precedent, the company and privacy advocates fear.

The fear is not unfounded as the FBI director James Comey confirmed last week that the case could set a precedent. Everyone who watched Suits knows that.

Back to the positive things. Apple is rumored to unveil a small iPad Pro and a new iPhone Special Edition (SE) modeled after the iconic iPhone 5, but with iPhone 6S performance. The iPhone SE is said to run on latest A9 CPU and the M9 Chip.

Other features of the iPhone SE include Apple Pay, iPhone 6 quality camera, always-on Siri and Live Photos. Color options are supposed to include bright pink. This new iPhone is offering a state-of-the-art iPhone experience, but in a small package with an expected lower price than the iPhone 6S.

The iPhone SE is supposed to not kill the iPhone 5S. An analyst reports says that Apple will cut the iPhone 5S price in half and continue selling it. The iPhone SE price would be $450, the same price the iPhone 5S is selling now.

Finally the first iPhone SE part has leaked out of Asia, confirming that Apple's partners are indeed in production of a new 4-inch iPhone SE.
