The patent for the FreeStyle Libre flash glucose monitoring system was obtained by Abbot, the pharmaceutical company. It caters to children and teenagers who range from 4-17 years of age.

Thus tiny tots and the youth will be delivered from the inconvenience of finger prick devices that keep one guessing about how much the process will hurt.
Normally, people with diabetes monitor their blood sugar levels via the pricking of a finger on a routine basis. This lends valuable data that can then be used to gauge the insulin medication, diet requirements and activity levels necessary for diabetes management.
Glycemic control is the goal. Teens and young children with the dreaded malady hesitate to have their fingers pricked. Now the parents of these juveniles who face the task of checking their blood glucose levels can heave a sigh of relief. With FreeStyle Libre, they don’t even need to wake up the sleeping youngster.

The researchers at Abbot Labs want the young ones to live happily and safely without the complications that normally arise with the onset of diabetes.
Their worried and concerned parents will also be able to relax a little thanks to this novel technology. The sensor device is very accurate for the span of a fortnight.
Over 97% of the youngsters showed their approval regarding this technology over the previous finger prick devices. Europe has a high rate of juvenile diabetes. The UK, Russia and Germany have the greatest population of diabetic children and teens.
