Ford has announced a heavy object in the 2015-16 vans could damage the seatbelt buckle.
Ford Motors just issued a new recall for the 2015-16 Transit vans. The Ford Transit vans were built between February 13, 2014, and January 13, 2016. Ford will be recalling a total of 48,990 of the Transit vans over the issue.
According to Ford, there is an issue with the rear passenger seatbelt buckles. In the Press Release Ford explained a heavy object could damage the rear seatbelt buckle.
The damage could prevent the seatbelt buckle from holding the belt in place. The issue of an unlatched seat belt increases the risk of injury to the occupant in the event of a crash.
Ford has also announced there have been no injuries or deaths related to the issue. But they are still recalling the vans to ensure safety.
According to the recall details Ford will either replace or modify the necessary components. The fixing depends upon the location of the seatbelt buckle in the vehicle.
Once the replacement parts are available Ford will take action. Ford has also shared anyone owning a Ford Transit van can expect to hear from their dealer soon.
