Ford Self-Driving Car to Have Mobile Movie Theater
  • Ford self-driving car patent shows a video projector!

The video projector can be deemed dangerous by some as it takes driver focus off the road.

Earlier in 2016 Ford announced it will upgrade its line of self-driving cars. No one knew how Ford would bring about the change at the time.

It seems Ford was planning to add an entertainment system to the autonomous car. According to a patent Ford will be turning their self-driving cars into mobile movie theaters.

Ford has filed for a patent under an ‘Autonomous Vehicle Entertainment System’. The patent documents were spotted by Forbes and brought to attention.

According to the document Ford wants to transform their car into a movie theater while the car is driving itself. The patent shows a projector screen blocking the windshield, according to Engadget.

While the front seats slid back so the Ford owner can relax and enjoy the ride. The screen will disappear into the car’s roof if the driver wants to take control of the car. A secondary display is also present for passengers in the back of the Ford car.

The Ford vehicle idea is certainly new. Most of the current autonomous cars do not advice the passengers from taking their eyes off the roads. Even though the cars drive themselves, drivers still need to have their wits about them to avoid crash.

The feature by Ford can prove to be dangerous since it will take focus off the road. A movie blocking the main view and seats reclined can slow down the reaction time in an emergency.

Ford has applied for the patent but there is no certainty it will ever be used. The autonomous cars will have to be truly reliable before the Ford Entertainment patent can be applied.
