Wenders stated the future i model will be offered with a range extender option. According to Wenders, the range-extender will play an important part in the coming years.
Since the range remains a limiting factor and a source of anxiety for BMW. BMW wants to reach a range which is more comparable with that of an internal-combustion engine.
So BMW will continue to offer the range-extender in the future as optional equipment. The option by BMW is being offered to address different customer needs.
The upcoming i5 is likely to be the first option for single-car garages. BMW announced they are thinking of a new i model it to attract families. The new model must be capable of being the first car in the household.
BMW is still working very hard on the usage concept which will be defined by the market. The i5 will most probably have a carbon-fiber structure as it seems the most obvious choice.
