Viewing your tablet prior to snoozing at night may affect the quality of your slumber time and satisfaction in a big way.

Those individuals who read stuff on their tablets on a consistent basis before bedtime may be skimping on quality sleep. As much as half an hour of reading on a tablet led to different brain electrical patterns and feelings of being less sleepy among people.

Meanwhile, if they read from a real book, this effect was nonexistent. Nature it seems is never wrong and technology destroys our humanity despite its apparently attractive qualities.

However, the good news is that the duration one slept and the time it took to doze off were the same in both circumstances. Light coming from the tablet’s screen may have an effect on levels of sleepiness.

The iPad did affect the sleep waves generation by a gap of 30 minutes which is of significance. Over 16 non-smoking individuals were included in the study. They were approximately 22 to 33 years of age. A

lso they were used to operating tablets and had no physical or psychological problems. They were told to sleep in their own beds and their brain wave patterns were recorded.

Even REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep waves were noted down. This special pattern of sleep is responsible for dreaming and clearing up the clogged up tunnels of the brain from the past detritus of memories.

The main problem with iPads was the blue light they emitted from their screens. This interfered with sleep quality, according to Reuters. Also the sleep duration was on average about eight hours which is enough of a time of shuteye for solid mental regeneration and day time freshness.

However, those who participated in the study reported feeling sleepier when they read a book than when they explored the Net on an iPad. Old school seems to work for humanity on a full-time basis.

Since blue light from the iPad screen fools the brain into thinking that it is still day time, this phenomenon of facing some difficulty while falling asleep may occur.

The centers of the brain responsible for alertness and wakefulness were activated thanks to the blue light. This interfered with the body’s natural patterns of somnolescence.

There are certain parameters and a decorum of chemical activities in the dendrites of the brain that allow for natural restorative and restful sleep. All this happens all by itself when the mind is exhausted at the end of the day.

Memory and cognition are dependent upon a good night’s sleep. Some lightbulbs also mimic the same effects as an iPad and thus disturb quality sleep.

While we cannot give up using our iPads, we can change the venue from the bedroom to any other chamber in the house. This will allow us to sleep unimpeded by disturbing patterns since the bedroom will be associated only with sleep.
