In order to test the durability of the devices, Square Trade does the job. The flagship duo was faced with two new bots during the test.
Deep Water Dunkbot places phones under 5ft / 1.5m of water. The devices were kept there for about half an hour because this is the IP68 level.
Both of the devices were pulled out of the water just fine....well, almost. Their audio was permanently muffled and distorted.
If we compare this test to that of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, the 6S lost the audio as a whole and faced severe screen damage, while the 6S Plus started functioning improperly after ten minutes and stopped working after 24 minutes.
The next part of the S7 duo torture test was the TumbleBot. In this test, the bot tumbles phones at 50rpm for 30 seconds.
The screens of both the S7 and S7 Edge had minor cracks but the rear panel was severely damaged.
Again coming to the iPhone duo, the 6S was unharmed while the 6S Plus’ screen shattered completely.
The other part of this painful test was the drop test. The S7 lost its screen on the very first face fall. As for the Galaxy S7 Edge, it lasted full two face-first plunges and seven corner drops.
