The appointment of Red is a part of a campaign by the UN. The goal is to get a handle on the climate crisis as well as promote happiness and a sense of well-being in the people.
The International Day of Happiness will be held on Sunday, the 20th of March. The UN’s Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon spoke of how the Angry Birds had brought smiles to the faces of millions of people around the global village.
He said that now they would also participate in making the earth a better place to live in. The slogan was “Red goes Green” as a part of the environmental drive towards trying to thrive. The Secretary General also spoke of how there could not have been a better method of celebrating the occasion.
To have an animated ambassador that would create greater savvy regarding global warming and our fragile environment was an ideal objective. The campaign was in synch with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the UNDP and the UN Foundation.
The main goal before them all was to make the Angry Birds happy via making the world a better place. The participants could also share their pics and comments on online social media.
This could take place via the usage of the hashtag #AngryBirdsHappyPlanet. It would automatically boost the popularity of the campaign.
Among the series of actions that could be taken, one step at a time, were: recycling, going on buses and trains instead of using personal vehicles and saving up on water.
Also a number of tips could be shared between the participants regarding how to live a life in harmony with the environment. It need not be an unhappy life though.
Care for the environment and care for the self go hand in hand. The Red Angry Bird mascot would embark on a world tour soon. Among the places he will go to is Paris where the Climate Conference took place.
