X-Men’s Havok gets the role of MacGyver on CBS and the network is giving the show the go-ahead.
It has been a long search, but CBS seems to have finally found their guy for playing the 1980s television hero Angus MacGyver. The original TV show featured Richard Dean Anderson as MacGyver, an agent that gets recruited into the secret organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.

The show ran from 1985 to 1992 and gained considerable popularity during it’s airing. It still has a decent viewership rating so it became a natural thing that CBS wanted to remake the show again.
The production team had already assembled and includes James Wan as the executive producer for the pilot while the original series’ creator Lee David Zlotoff and executive producer Henry Winkler, as well as Colaizzo, Mahoney, Ancken and Michael Clear, who heads Wan’s Atomic Monster will also be working on the project.
All that remained was to find out a lead who could play the younger version of MacGyver. After a long and thorough search, CBS has finally signed on X-Men franchise alum Lucas Till, according to THR.
Lucas started his career with Walk the Line but was recognized on a wider scale when he starred in Hannah Montana the Movie in which he played Hannah/Miley love interest in the movie and also became Miley’s beau in real life.
The couple dated for a while before parting ways and he focused more on his acting. Hailing from Australia, Lucas is from an army background. He was raised by his father who was an army officer before he tried his luck at the big screen.

He has played minor roles in movies like Spy Next Door, Paranoia, Vacation 8 and Sins of Our Youth but his major break came with playing Havoc in the prequel series of X Men where he plays Havok in all the three movies. The actor is currently 25 years old and he will be perfect to play the younger version of Angus MacGyver.
