Apple has finally announced plans for its first Original TV series. However, it isn't going to be that show anchored by Dr. Dre that we all thought it was going to be. Instead, it is a "non-scripted series about apps," according to ZDNet.
Basically, it is a reality show or documentary that takes place in the digital marketplace - or what we are already using on our iPhones. Some people are worried that it will actually just be an extended commercial for apps that pay.
Apple has long been pushing the "app economy" and it is considered one of the best investments of the last few years. It seems that the show will instead highly the benefit of the app industry, which just so happens to be dominated by Apple.
“One of the things with the app store that was always great about it was the great ideas that people had to build things and create things,” Apple senior vice president of Internet software and services Eddy Cue said.
Apple is said to be working with Will.i.am who has been a tech entrepreneur himself, as well as TV execs Howard Owens and Ben Silverman. Everything else about the show remains unknown - even the title.
Apple has had some success with creating exclusive programming that tied into music in the past, including the hit documentary about Taylor Swift's "1989" world tour that was released exclusively on Apple Music last year. Now, they are officially following Netflix and Amazon in producing original products.
Still, it isn't clear whether or not this is the way to do it.

“This doesn’t mean that we are going into a huge amount of movie production or TV production or anything like that,” Cue said.
