Each year the Tribeca Film Festival showcases many movies from all around the world. The living legend and great actor Robert De Niro is on the organizing committee of the festival.

This controversy started when problems were raised regarding the inclusion of “Vaxxed”, a controversial movie on the topic of anti-vaccines made by Andrew Wakefield.
Robert De Niro who is the organizer and co-founder of the festival stated that he actually pushed for the inclusion of the documentary in the festival.
It is said that Andrew Wakefield who is the leader behind the anti-vaccine campaign will be present on the showcasing as well. He will be supporting his cause on that occasion.
He and his campaign have received a lot of negative publicity on a broad level. He has been accused of presenting false scientific data about the vaccination process going on around the world.
Robert De Niro expressed the fact that he has an 18-year-old daughter who has autism. He said that he just wants to be a better parent and person who would be remembered for doing good deeds after he has gone.
He said that he was neither supporting nor promoting this anti-vaccination view. He believed that he wanted to include this movie in the festival only so that people can discuss it.
According to LATimes, he said since the advent of this film festival, which was 15 years ago in history, he had never asked for a movie to be included. He has done it for the first time and it was only to broaden the minds of the viewers.
