The Toyota patent will make sure the information in the form of an image can be moved dynamically on the windshield. The dynamic image will keep the driver better informed about the road.
According to Toyota, the patent works like a conventional HUD to display vehicle instruments on the windshield. An ECU analyzes the steering angle and speed, according to AutoBlog.
The front-mounted camera identifies the lane markings. Similarly the interior camera finds the driver's viewpoint. In this way the system moves the information around the windshield to be in the best location.
The size of the image corresponds to the vehicle's width. In this way the driver will know their position in a lane. As the car picks up speed the display moves up the screen.
The display will then get smaller since the driver is looking into distance. The patent idea seems quite realistic and incredibly useful. The individual components of the windshield already exist but they are employed in a new way.
