The recall was issued in the US due to a battery pack issue which causes the engine to stall.

The German automaker Volkswagen just announced a new recall. According to VW, they are recalling about 5,200 VW e-Golf vehicles in the United States.

The recall has been issued due to a battery problem that can cause their electric engine to stall. The 2015-2016 model years of the e-Golf are being recalled by the Volkswagen Group of America.

VW stated the recall is a precautionary step due to the "oversensitive diagnostics". The issue in the high-voltage battery management system may even lead to an electric surge which is a critical battery condition.

The problem can cause an emergency shutdown of the high-voltage battery. The shutdown of the battery can deactivate the vehicle's electrical drive motor.

If the entire system is stalled in such a condition then a crash is a high possibility. The NHTSA also stated the recall by VW will being on the 15th of March, 2016.

Consumers have been instructed by VW to bring their vehicles to dealers. At the dealership the e-Golf will undergo an update on the battery management software.

The recall is another in a long list of problems for VW. Last September VW admitted it had installed emissions-cheating software in 11 million vehicles worldwide.

Since then VW is facing a slew of lawsuits from angry owners of the diesel cars. Previously in February Volkswagen announced it will recall 680,000 cars in the United States due to possible faulty Takata airbags.
