It was expected that Batman v Superman would suffer a drop from 58-68%, but the film ended up opposite of those expectations. The films’ estimated earning of second weekend, $52.3 million, shows 68.4% drop that is the fifth largest drop of all-time, according to BoxOfficeMojo.
It is topped only by two movies at box office Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and Twilight dropping 72% and 69-70% respectively. Last year's Fantastic Four, a film that features four super heroes, dropped 68.2% in its second weekend.
Batman v Superman has earned an estimated $85 million internationally on its second weekend. Now with these international earnings, the film has surpassed $682.8 million worldwide.
The worldwide earning shows that the film has already crossed the big films such as Man of Steel ($668m), Thor: The Dark World ($644.6m), Iron Man 2 ($623.9m) and Iron Man ($585.2m) on the all-time list.
On the other hand, the critics did not give impressive reviews to Batman v Superman which may have caused the largest drop on its second weekend.
The reviews of critics probably slowed down the ticket sales of Batman v Superman as the movie had huge ticket sales during its opening weekend but the sales numbers dropped quickly on its second Friday.

Forbes writes it, the second Friday’s numbers indicate “neither a passionate embrace nor vitriolic hatred, but merely indifference.” In other words, the movie is not a complete flop by any means, but neither is it a runaway hit.
