Tesla Motors is announcing a 2016 Model S facelift as early as today. Photos of the Model S facelift leaked.

The Models S is rumored to get a facelift and now there is a leaked photo that confirms it. The Tesla Model S gets a new front that is in line with the Model X and also the new Model 3. Electrik published photos showing new Model S posters that are going up at Tesla stores. I always hated the black front grill of the Model S and now it is gone.

Update: 2017 Model S is Official and can be ordered now.

In the 2016 Model S facelift most of the front is also part of the overall body and only a thin black area around the logo stays black. Tesla Motors is likely going to announce the 2016 Model S facelift today. Customers who just bought a Model S will not be that happy, but maybe Tesla Motors offers to change the front of older Model S if customers want it.

The Tesla cars are pretty modular and changing the front is likely possibly with low effort. The Model S starts at $61,000, but you can trick it out to way above $100,000 with 90KWh, AWD and 2.8s ludicrous speed acceleration. The Model S along with the Model X will still stay the the most desirable Tesla's. The Model 3 will not have the performance levels of the top lines of the Tesla Motors - at least not in the beginning.

Speaking of the Model X. Yesterday Tesla Motors announced a Model X recall. The third row seats have an issue that could cause issues in an accident. The affected Model X are made before March 26. The voluntary recall affects 2,700 cars.

Tesla Motors unveiled last month the Model 3 and over 325,000 people reserved a Model 3 in the first week.
