Ambushed Police Office Proposes to Girlfriend at Phillies Opener

It was a good day for romance at Citizen's Bank Park in Philadelphia yesterday, when a Philadelphia police officer, Jesse Hartnett, who was ambushed while in his patrol car in January, was invited to throw out the first pitch.

The honor was bestowed by the Phillies after the officer's left arm was shattered when he was shot by attacked Edward Archer, who later said that he acted "in the name of Islam" and was connected to Isis. However, it appears as if the man was just mentally unstable. Hartnett chased the attacker and shot at him as well, even though he was in extreme pain.

However, it wasn't his pitch that was getting all of the news. Rather, it was what happened afterward. As he was about to walk off the field, he reached into the sling that was supporting his still healing left arm, and pulled out an engagement ring.

He got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend, who said yes among the screams and applause of Phillies fans.

Archer faces attempted murder and other charges.
