The news of Will Smith has been flying for the last few days, but the newest break in the story may come as a shock. A fully loaded 9-millimeter handgun was found inside the vehicle of former Saints player Will Smith. It was found just this morning, three days after Smith was shot and killed after an automobile accident.

The news comes from the New Orleans Police Department, who said that they didn't find any shell casing that proved the weapon was fired. The ballistic evidence backed that up. According to ESPN, they didn't say whether or not there was proof that Smith help the weapon during the accident or the shooting.
The attorney for Smith's alleged shooter, Cardell Hayes, said that he believed that the finding of a gun would help prove his client wasn't guilty of second-degree murder. It is guessed that his client will claim self-defense.

The only shell casings, which come off of a bullet when fired, that were found, belonged to a .45 caliber handgun that was recovered and believed to belong to Hayes. Smith's wife, Racquel, was also in the car. She was shot in the leg at least once, but is said to be recovering nicely. Two other passengers, who weren't identified, weren't harmed.
