The new 2017 Tesla Model S is official with facelift and new features.
Tesla Motors quietly launched the new 2017 Model S. Not even Elon Musk tweeted about it. The new updated Model S just appeared on the Tesla Motors site and is ready for order. There is no press-release, no blog post and also no Tweet from Tesla Motors about the new Model S.

As reported, images of the new 2017 Model S leaked early Monday morning. The official images of the new Model S confirm that rather dramatic design change on the front. The black grill is gone and also the lights have been updated to match more the Model X look.
The new 2017 Model S comes with the option to order the special HEPA Air filter system known from the Model X. Also new is a 48 amps charger module. This allows for faster charging of the new Model S.
The new Model S looks much more finished than the original version. This update keeps the Model S a very desirable car going forward. It will continue to stand on its own once the Model 3 goes on sale.
Owners of the current Model S are apparently stuck with the design. There is no word about upgrading options for current Model S owners.
It is rather puzzling that Tesla Motors has not made an announcement of the new 2017 Model S. The new Model S can be configured now online in the Tesla Model S design studio. There is also a new interior option with "Dark Ash Wood Décor."
