An inflatable space station hotel of sorts will be launched by 2020 for tourists. This is what we call the art of the space tour.

The world’s first space station hotel will be inflatable in nature and will be launched by the year 2020. That is less than half a decade from the current date in time.

The United Launch Alliance will hook up with billionaire extraordinaire Robert Bigelow to build caravanserais in space. Human beings will be flown to and back from these space hotels.

Already an inflatable module is being attached to the ISS. This will road-test the Bigelow technology. The scheme will employ space taxis that will be manufactured by SpaceX, the Boeing Company as well as other organizations.

The decision was announced at a conference recently. A 12,000 cubic foot inflatable residence of sorts will be launched in 2020, according to DailyMail. It will go via a piggyback ride on the ULA Atlas 5 Rocket.

This is the only spacecraft capable of taking such a heavy load aboard it into space. This venture will open the floodgates of space to the influence of the private sector and the forces of tourism.

The high technology and immense talent is definitely there. It is not just a game of money and sense though. The resources that are being lent for the completion of this project are state-of-the-art.

The inflatable space habitats are made of Kevlar-like materials. Also other fabrics are used in the making of this space hotel. They generally protect the space hotel from impacts of any space debris that is floating around in the vast emptiness of the universe.

The space hotel is folded and attached to the rocket. Later on in space it is unfolded and inflated so that it becomes huge in its dimensions.

This project is expected to save millions of dollars in money for NASA and other space agencies. Work on this has been going on since the past decade and a half.

A replica of this space hotel has already been sent to dock on the ISS. Termed BEAM, it will be inflated in 30 days time and remain functional for the next two years.

The next inflatable residences that will be flown into space will be 20 times bigger than this miniaturized version. Space tourism is the wave of the future.

The earth is getting to be a smaller place and as time moves on many members of our species will be flying off for the skies in an attempt to get away from it all.
