Marvel Plans Guardians of the Galaxy 3
  • Marvel Studios President talks about Phase 3 of the Marvel Universe

Marvel Studios President Kevin Fiege elaborated about the movies that will come in phase 3 of the Marvel Universe and what fans might expect from the upcoming Avengers movies.

So being in Marvel has to be exciting as most people might think. Most people working at Marvel are behind the scenes of making the incredible movies about our favourite superheroes that we have seen in the past few years. The thing is that we forget that Marvel has been putting out movies for quite a long time now.

The original X-Men trilogy made Hugh Jackman popular as Wolverine and the Spider Man trilogy made Tobey Maguire famous as well. It was actually the Iron Man movie starring Robert Downey Jr. that initiated the Marvel phenomenon.

The best part that may be accounted to the success of Marvel is the planning of the phases in which it released the movies. As we have witnessed, Marvel has released the movies in a sequence which built up and interconnect with each other.

Not only that, they have also associated the ABC Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. with the movies as well. It is like a well-oiled machine pumping out one great movie after the other. These stories and these movies are not easy to make though and they have taken their toll on the filmmakers that have been associated with the movies.

So when the studio announced that all the franchises were almost done with one or two movies left, the fans have been wondering whether it is the end of the Marvel phenomenon.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Fiege addressed all these issues in his interview with i09 (via SC). He told the studios about Phase 3 of the movie making at the studios which will be initiated after the release of Captain America Civil War which is due to release on May 6th. It will be followed by Doctor Strange in November, 2016. Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 Spider-Man and Thor: Ragnarok will hit theatres in 2017.

Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Part 1, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel are set to release in 2018 while Avengers: Infinity War is set for release in 2019.

This is the set schedule that has been introduced by Kevin Fiege which may be subjective to any change but this is the schedule that they have established for Phase 3.

Fiege said that they were not clear about the post 2020 period as Inhumans has already been pushed back and the third part of Guardians of the Galaxy is also likely to be pushed back in that period. So there were two projects which are hopefully the milestone of Phase 4.

Talking about the Infinity Wars, he said that people were assuming that it is going to be two parts of one story but it is not. He said that currently, they are juggling around with ideas about what to add to the story and how it should be made but both the movies are going to be very different from one another.

He said that two infinity stones remain to be found so the audience can say that both the films will roam around that idea and there might be a collaboration of various other characters including the Guardian of the Galaxy characters in the Infinity Wars movies.

With a tight knit schedule of the Phase 3 and hope for Phase 4, we might not just be finished with the Marvel Universe just yet.
