Universal Studios confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will be voicing the green monster Grinch in the upcoming Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Back in 2000, Dr. Seuss’ fictional character the Grinch came to life on cinema screens in a feature film where Jim Carrey gave one of his most iconic performances and gave Universal a great repertoire in the case of making kid movies that worked.

It might not have done so well with the critics and people thought that this was the last of the Grinch that we might see from Universal.
In their presentation at the CinemaCon this Wednesday, Universal Studios concentrated more on their Illumination projects and one of many projects to be announced was Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Yes! The iconic green Christmas stealing monster is back at it again but this time he might be in CGI animation and the actor who has been announced to voice him is equally iconic.
Benedict Cumberbatch was announced to be voicing the Grinch, reported E! News. Pete Candeland and Yarrow Cheney will be directing the movie about the Grinch who will once again plot to ruin Christmas for the inhabitants of his iconic village of Whoville.
Benedict Cumberbatch has already voiced Shera Khan in the recent Jungle Book movie and we can say that this is not an unfamiliar territory for the actor.
It may also be an exciting project for the star whose son will be a toddler in 2017 when the movie is set to release. Benedict Cumberbatch was also featured in Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the currently going CinemaCon.
How the Grinch Stole the Christmas was not the only animated project that Universal announced. Steve Carell will once more be voicing Gru and his twin brother in the upcoming project Despicable Me 3 giving new meanings to sibling rivalry.
