How do Celebrities Look Flawless while Working Out?

If there’s one thing that’s certain to intimidate wannabe gym bunnies, or those fearful of wearing Lycra in public, it’s the sight of yet another flawless celebrity leaving the gym with perfect hair, finely toned muscles, and workout wear that looks as though it’s never been worn before. Why is it, then, that us mere mortals are left looking on the slightly sweatier side of “urgh” whenever we so much as look at an item of sportswear? How do celebrities manage to look so amazing whenever they work out? It turns out that looking trim and proper isn’t as difficult, or daunting, as you may think.

So, looking good while exercising is now a thing…

It’s true; we’re all generally far more aware than ever before that exercise is essential for keeping fit and healthy, and that trips to the gym aren’t just something that celebs do; but did you know that looking flawless at the gym is almost as important as the calories you burn while you’re there? Take Taylor Swift, for example; there’s no denying she’s a striking lady when she’s up on stage performing, but her post-gym look is almost as flawless. Very few people take the time to dress up after their workout, but Taylor manages to singlehandedly shame anyone who’s ever considered walking brazenly into the parking lot without even taking a shower. The Kardashians are similarly guilty of looking incredible every time they don a pair of leggings, while Jennifer Anniston, Jessica Alba, and Demi Lovato may as well tell us their secrets now. Celebrities, it seems, are as intent on being papped outside the gym as they are on the red carpet, making the rest of us incredibly self-conscious when it comes to choosing our workout wear. Stop giving yourself such a hard time, though, as the right outfit is just around the corner.

The rise and rise of athleisurewear

There’s no doubt about it, sportswear is fashionable once more, and with a whole host of celebrities endorsing lines or creating their own (we’re looking at you, Kate Hudson), it’s never been easier to recreate the looks launched by a thousand front pages. You see athleisurewear, as it’s now known, is not only stylish but also incredibly comfortable and functional – and that’s just it. Celebrities know what looks good and what works, and have the budget to keep up with the latest trends. Yoga pants, as always, are a huge workout wardrobe staple, as are sports bras to strap in the “girls”, loose-fitting tops that will complement your body’s movements, and breathable jerseys that will adapt from gym to high street in seconds. The secret to the athleisurewear trend, and celebrities’ flawlessness, is to treat workout wear as if it’s a part of who you are, rather than being a specialist kind of clothing that only comes out on the days you feel bothered to exercise. Rocking the look is as much about confidence as the clothing, and it’s becoming increasingly easy to blend the two thanks to the high street’s acceptance of workout wear as a trend. As sportswear gains popularity, gorgeous cuts and styles are becoming more accessible; finally, you can exercise like a celebrity for just a fraction of the cost, and without sacrificing the quality of the clothing you wear, or the ease of your workout. The good news is that plus size workout clothes are also incredibly popular these days, and those with natural curves needn’t consign themselves to a life of baggy workout gear in order to hit the gym. It’s time to work that body.

It’s incredibly easy to be intimidated by the sight of flawless celebrities heading to the gym in their designer gear, but if there’s one thing that body shaming has taught us, it’s to embrace what you have, and to treat your body as a canvas. If you want to work out in Spanx, or dress your curves in yoga pants, then go ahead; looking and feeling good isn’t about adhering to social conventions, but having the confidence to rock what you’ve got. There are so many amazing, and trendy, items of athleisurewear out there these days, all designed to complement an array of body types. There’s never been a better time to hit the gym, and to feel, and look, better for it.
