Deadpool was a surprise hit this year, breaking every box office record that it could, especially because it was R-rated. It even boasted the biggest opening weekend of any 20th Century Fox X-men movie. So it really shouldn't be surprising that we are going to be getting a sequel.

The movie was announced at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and it was also announced that Tim Miller, Rhett Resse, and Paul Wernick will all be returning as director (Miller) and writers. Of course, Ryan Reynolds will be back in the suit.
There are also some theories on a release date out there - 20th Century Fox staked a claim on two additional Marvel movies for the release calendar: October 6, 2017 and January 12, 2018. While we know that the October date is going to the Gambit movie, January is wide open. This is just a theory presented by Den of Geek, so don't take it too seriously yet.
Of course, Cable will be returning to the movie. "Clearly Cable is a character that’s not going to stay out of the Deadpool universe for too much longer," Co-writer Rhett Reese said in an interview. "I mean it’s a character everyone loves. Whether he’s in the sequel or whether he’s in an X-Force thing still remains to be determined. In terms of who would play that part, I think it’s very much dependent on things like schedule, who’s available. We don’t necessarily write with actors in our minds because we just know from previous experience that you can write to a voice and if that person’s not in your movie, you’re screwed."
Another theory is that Domino may be included, which is especially true if this franchise is to lead to an X-Force movie.
TJ Miller, of course, has his own ideas about what should happen.
"I keep asking them to give Weasel some guns. I think that would be really fun. Because eventually in the comic book he becomes a superhero but, like, not a great one. He’s the Penetrator. He really is! He’s like, ‘I’m going to be the Penetrator. We’re going to penetrate injustice!’ And people are like, ‘I don’t think that’s a great name.’ And I’m like, ‘Why? It makes perfect sense.’”
"I think if Cable and Deadpool team up, it will likely be in Deadpool’s world.," Rhett Reese said. "That allows us to control that budgetary thing a little more; I don’t think we’re gonna see Deadpool and Cable on some far-flung planet 300 years from now."
